Letter from the Director
Welcome to Rhode Island Hospital’s Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) on Opioids and Overdose, the first center of its kind that addresses the opioid epidemic. The center brings together leaders from institutions across Rhode Island to support the research needed to combat the opioid epidemic that is hampering and taking the lives of our friends and neighbors. There is a tremendous need for more effective interventions to treat and prevent opioid misuse and overdose, and it is a true honor to work with incredible project leaders as they tackle these challenges in their amazing projects. We are grateful to the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences of the National Institute of Health for the support for this project and recognizing its importance in our communities.
