Caroline Wunsch, MD, is an addiction medicine physician at Lifespan and holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown Alpert Medical School. Dr. Wunsch completed her internal medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and her addiction medicine fellowship at Brown University. In her clinical role, she sees patients through the Addiction Medicine Consult Service at Rhode Island and Miriam Hospital, as well as at the Lifespan Recovery Center and the Addiction Care Today (ACT) Clinic.

Her research centers on innovative models of addiction care aimed at enhancing treatment accessibility for marginalized populations. Dr. Wunsch’s work also explores the implementation of low-threshold models of care for the management of opioid use disorder. Dr. Wunsch is one of the founding members of the Rhode Island Buprenorphine Hotline, a pivotal resource offering 24/7 treatment access for individuals seeking buprenorphine initiation or encountering recent disruptions in their buprenorphine treatment regimen.
