Dr. Ju Nyeong Park, Ph.D., M.H.S., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology (Research) at Brown University, and a Research Scientist at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Park’s team, the Harm Reduction Innovation Lab (HRIL) is based at Rhode Island Hospital. Our mission is to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative interventions to promote the health and wellbeing of people who use drugs, including overdose detection technologies, drug checking programs and harm reduction centers. Dr. Park’s team includes Erin Thompson, MPH (Project Manager) and Jessie Tardif, BA (Research Assistant), as well as students from Brown University and Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Park has extensive experience in data analysis using epidemiologic methods, including longitudinal data analysis, multi-level modeling and confirmatory factor analysis. She has published over 70 peer-reviewed publications on substance use, HIV and overdose. Currently, Dr. Park serves as PI/Co-PI on mixed-methods projects in Rhode Island and Maryland, and mentors undergraduate students, graduate students and fellows. She earned her Ph.D. and M.H.S. in Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and B.S. from the University of Sydney.
