
Justin Berk, MD, MPH, MBA, is this year’s recipient of Brown Health’s Bruce M. Selya Award for Excellence in Research Each year, the award honors an independent investigator who has demonstrated excellence through a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and the ability to attract research funding.
Dr. Berk is a board-certified internal medicine, pediatrics, and addiction medicine physician, who serves as the director of the Center for Health and Justice Transformation and as an assistant professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. His research has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and been published in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and Academic Medicine.
Dr. Berk’s research focuses on physician education about opioid addiction treatment, identifying areas that may be lacking, and encourages the increased availability of addiction treatment medication in helping patients.
