Feasibility Study: Mainstay

First place winner of the September 2019, 2-day Hackathon event, where community members, students, and professionals gathered to brainstorm innovative solutions to the opioid crisis. As the first place winner, Mainstay received funding as an ongoing feasibility study project as part of the COBRE’s Translational and Transformative Core.

Mainstay is a “soft and slow” environment for people who have recently awoken from an overdose. Mainstay is a collaborative effort between designers, health care professionals, and non-profit workers who imagine a future space where people who use drugs are enabled to define their own path to improved health and safety outcomes.
